Donate Your Wedding Flowers in Hawaii

Having a wedding or interested in donating flowers from an event? Donating to a care home is a great way to brighten the day of care home residents.

Our wedding took place at Laniakea Café Julia & YWCA in Honolulu on July 20th. It was a beautiful wedding that turned out great with dancing and good times. Our concern with the decorations was that we wanted to make sure our flower arrangements didn't got to waste. The flower arrangements were designed by Ivie Joy Floral Arts and Events, and we couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful. Her skills and services were out of our league and budget, but luckily Ivie Joy is a friend of my wife. Thank you Ivie!

The idea came to my wife when we decided to have our wedding on Oahu instead of The Big Island where we live. There wasn't much information online about donating in Hawaii which is strange since many people do destination weddings.
I decided to do a websearch of care homes and came up with Hawaii Long Term Care Association (HLTCA). I was lucky to reach Bob Ogawa at HLTCA who helped facilitate the donation. Bob connected me with Arcadia Retirement Residence employee, Joyce Nishikawa; who was extremely helpful!
Joyce and her team at Arcadia contacted our venue to facilitate the pick up of flowers. They basically did everything to get the arrangements to the residents. All we did was drop by and meet with residents and get marriage tips!
The visit was a success. Joyce said "The wedding flowers have been quite the rave here amongst residents and staff alike".
